Due to ongoing growth, Northern Star Resources currently has a rare opportunity for an experienced Senior Land / Tenement professional to join the team at our Subiaco Corporate Office, on a permanent & full-time basis.

 

Reporting to the Land Manager this key role will manage & oversee the daily functions of the Land Administration Team to ensure security of title and access.

 

Here is what awaits you:

  • Manage a defined portfolio within Northern Star’s tenement and real property interest, including compliance, applications, renewals, relinquishments, and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee statutory and contractual obligations in compliance with the relevant Mining Acts and Land Acts provisions.
  • Ensure that all statutory, regulatory and/or commercial obligations across the portfolio are met accurately within required timeframes.
  • Managing tenement objections, including reviewing, and preparing responses liaising with stakeholders, and representing the company in the Warden’s Court where required, to ensure timely resolution in line with regulatory requirements and company interests.
  • Assist the Land Manager in the due diligence of acquisition opportunities, and divestments, including the preparation of associated legal documentation (when required).
  • Assist with internal and external communications of Land Management issues as required.
  • Attend external Industry committee meetings as required by the Land Manager.
  • Maintain a current awareness of developments in the relevant mining industry, competitor activity and legislation.
  • Apply continuous improvement and actively review systems and procedures to maximise effectiveness and efficiencies.

With extensive experience in a similar position within land & tenure administration, you are genuinely passionate about your work and are comfortable mentoring other members of the team and driving continuous improvement across the function.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience (8+ years) within a similar Land and Mineral Titles Administration role, ideally within the mining industry.
  • A sound working knowledge of compliance standards relating to mineral tenements.
  • Excellent computer literacy across the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as a sound working knowledge of ArcGIS.
  • Demonstrable experience building strong working relationships across multiple operations and various levels of stakeholder.
  • An excellent knowledge of the exploration/mining industry together with extensive experience in: Western Australia and interstate Mining Acts; the Native Title Act; the Aboriginal Heritage Act; the Environmental Protection Act; the Mining Rehabilitation Fund Act; the Mines Safety and Inspection Act.
  • High level knowledge of tenement administration systems (Lease Control) and accounting software (Pronto).
  • The ability to read, understand & interpret legal agreements.
