Northern Star Resources has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Geologist – Resources, to join our Subiaco Corporate Office, supporting both our Thunderbox & Bronzewing Operations.

 

Working a Monday to Friday work week, this key role will report directly to the Geology Superintendent, with responsibilities as below:

 

  • Lead the geological interpretation, 3D modelling, and resource estimation of the Thunderbox and Bronzewing deposits, ensuring model accuracy and compliance with reporting standards, while mentoring junior geologists and collaborating with mine planning and exploration teams to support resource growth and development.
  • Guide and mentor Project Geologists, ensuring geological excellence through interpretation, modelling, and estimation.
  • Monitor reconciliation and model performance, contributing significantly to all mine geology and technical functions.

Your demonstrated passion for exceeding industry ‘best-practice’ in all geological and environmental tasks, along with a proactive attitude to making a difference, will see you as a much-valued member of the Northern Star Geology Service Department.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Hold a tertiary post-graduate qualification in geoscience from a recognised institution.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in mining and/or exploration geology, with at least 3 years’ experience in resource modelling of a narrow vein style gold deposit.
  • Experience in a production environment as a Geologist, preferably in both underground and open pits.
  • High level of competency in the use of modelling, geostatistics and estimation software (Datamine, Leapfrog or Supervisor).
  • Proven competency in orebody interpretation, wireframing, and modelling estimation methodologies.
  • Good understanding of geostatistical and classical estimation methods as well as reconciliation processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to set achievable goals, effectively delegate and mentor is critical. 
  • The ability to build collaborative & functional relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders to best achieve department and business objectives and deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, along with strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
