Northern Star has a rewarding opportunity for an Environmental Advisor - Approvals & Closure at our Subiaco Corporate office working Monday to Friday on a permanent full time basis
Reporting to the Approvals and Closure Specialist, this position, will provide support managing environmental approvals for the KCGM operation. You will be supported by an experienced team and will be responsible for the development of approval applications and facilitating compliance with our legal obligations.

- Assist in the coordination of environmental approvals to ensure operational continuity of the operation.
- Prepare and review environmental approval applications, including MDCPs, Mine Closure Plans, Works Approvals, Native Vegetation Clearing Permits and Part IV referrals for a complex site.
- Champion environmental approvals processes and other environmental management systems (EMS).
- Provide support to internal stakeholders, including site teams, to ensure compliance with environmental approvals and statutory obligations is maintained.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including Government regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate technical studies required to support environmental approvals applications.
- Participate in sustainability and business improvements projects.
To thrive in this role, you'll need
Experience: Demonstrated 5–7 years of experience in a similar role within the mining or resources sector, with a strong understanding of WA environmental, mining and heritage legislation, site‑based experience highly regarded, and proficiency in GIS (preferably ArcGIS Pro), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), technical programs, data systems and databases.
Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in an environment‑related field, WA “C” class Driver’s Licence and excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative and effective relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
