Due to continued growth within our new division, Northern Star Surface Mining (NSSM) is seeking an experienced Safety and Training Manager to join the team at our Subiaco, Perth corporate office on a permanent & full-time basis.
Here is what awaits you
- Lead WHS compliance, safety culture and continuous improvement across all sites.
- Oversee incident investigations, risk management and statutory reporting.
- Deliver training, inductions and competency programs to national standards.
- Support site trainers and facilitate safety leadership development.
- Partner with internal teams and external providers to strengthen safety outcomes.
- Maintain emergency response capability and environmental compliance.
- Advise the General Manager on safety initiatives and act as delegate when required
To thrive in this role, you will need.
Experience: Demonstrated experience as a WHS and training leader with a strong mining background, skilled in developing safety programs, managing compliance systems and leading incident investigations. Proven ability to coordinate training, assess organisational needs and deliver nationally accredited programs, supported by strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Demonstrated capability in risk management, continuous improvement, budgeting and utilising integrated management systems to support safe, efficient operations.
Qualifications: Hold a recognised tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline, Cert IV in Training & Assessment, auditing experience, strong risk management capability (ICAM/Bow Tie), INX system knowledge, Senior First Aid, and a current WA C-Class driver’s licence.
