The Open Pits Department at NSR currently has a newly created opportunity for a highly experienced Operations Manager to join the team, working at our Subiaco based Corporate Office, on a permanent and full-time basis.
Reporting to the General Manager – Open Pits, this key senior role will organise, direct, control and coordinate the provisions of services and personnel required to fulfil the necessary financial planning, forecasting and monitoring aspects of all open pit operations across NSR.

- Effective management of commercial arrangements for the business unit including contracts, sub-contractor management, forecasts & budgets.
- Provide commercial direction and collaborative leadership to ensure the achievement of operational management goals guided by our STARR Core Values and Purpose.
- Develop and drive clear project outcomes and deliverables with stakeholders, both onsite, with counterparts and corporate teams.
- Set and drive a psychologically healthy and safe culture in project teams that supports our STARR Core Values and Purpose.
- Monitor, manage and respond to changing regulatory, safety, operational, environmental, requirements collaboratively with NSR clients, in order to meet NSR and OPEN PITS goals.
- Provide onsite and in person mentoring support and coaching to both project and non-project teams as required.

Qualifications & Experience:
- A Tertiary Qualification in Commerce or Engineering.
- 15+ years of mining experience, preferably open pit, but conversant with all methods of mining and with a sound knowledge of relevant legislations.
- Extensive Project & Contract Management experience, with the ability to understand & interpret technical & contractual documentation.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, across both mining & maintenance contracts.
- Commercially astute, with a sound knowledge of financial & accounting processes.
- A solid understanding of QA/QC processes & requirements.

- Excellent communication & people skills, with outstanding stakeholder management.
- Strong computer literacy skills, with proficiency across the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.

- Flexible & adaptable to changing priorities, you are extremely well organised, with strong time management skills.
- You possess strong analytical & problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to consistently deliver under pressure.
