Northern Star currently has an opportunity for an experienced Mine Planning Superintendent (Underground) to join us on a permanent & full-time basis, working at our Subiaco Corporate Office.

Reporting to the GM – Kalgoorlie Ops Strategic Growth, this key role will provide technical expertise to corporate and site-based stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives. The role will deliver underground ore reserve estimates and life of asset plans, as well as undertake mine-planning and feasibility work for both operational and development projects.

Here is what awaits you.

  • Compile yearly underground ore reserve estimates and life of asset plans.
  • Undertake mine planning and feasibility work for both operational and development projects.
  • Assist operations with mine planning, engineering projects, budgeting and business assessments as required.
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of best practice standards and procedures relevant to the mine planning process.
  • Complete feasibility studies investigating alternate mine designs and scheduling to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Provide mining engineering support for business development opportunities including due diligence assessments and mineral resource evaluations.
  • Communicate the Life of Asset Plan to all relevant personnel to foster awareness of future targets and directions for the Mining Operation.

With significant experience in a similar position, you possess a genuine passion for what you do and are steadfast in your ability to provide best-practice technical expertise and consistently deliver quality outcomes across your remit.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • As a member of AusIMM, you hold a tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent, along with 10+ years of experience across the Mining Industry.
  • Extensive experience in a similar role, with underground production and planning experience in a mechanised hard rock mine essential to the success of this opportunity.
  • A First-Class Mine Managers Certificate is highly desirable, although not essential.
  • Significant experience in all planning processes, from long to short term.
  • Mining technology and heavy production equipment experience.
  • Strong computer literacy, with sound skills across the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Competent in the use of mine planning and design software – in particular Deswik and Ventsim or other equivalent major mining software packages.
