Northern Star Resources currently has an opportunity for an experienced corporate Health & Safety Advisor to join the team at our Subiaco Corporate Office, on an initial 18-month-contract. The position will involve ad-hoc travel to site as & when required – approximately once or twice a month for a day or two at a time.

 

Reporting to the Superintendent – Safety, you will support the business strategy, by championing a ‘safety first‘ culture across the organisation. This key role will provide comprehensive guidance & support to the remote site safety teams, across health, safety, hygiene & the related systems, as well as advice to operational leaders in relation to site audits, inspections, WHS systems & incidents.

  • Visibly drive, develop & champion a positive safety culture across the business, displaying a genuine passion for all facets of health & safety, and a clear commitment to mitigating risk of injury or harm across all NSR operations.
  • Ensure site teams comply with the relevant regulations and continually develop the Safety Management System (SMS) to remain relevant to all Stakeholders.
  • Provide continuous support, guidance and direction to employees and contractors for all safety & health requirements.
  • Review with the Superintendent – Safety serious incident investigations to ensure adequate quality and remedial actions are effective and implemented correctly.
  • Ensure all Corporate based employees complete relevant inductions.
  • Participate in risk assessments of site work activities and conditions.
  • Monitor the completion of recommendations & actions from incident investigations, inspections, & audits.
  • Ensure all applicable statutory reports are completed in required timeframes.
  • Coordinate and undertake corporate drug and alcohol testing and provide advice and support to site management in the implementation of OHS policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Tertiary Qualification in Workplace Health & Safety or equivalent, along with a Lead Auditor Certification.
  • Have a sound working knowledge & understanding of risk management processes, preferably ICAM.
  • Solid computer literacy across the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as INX modules & applications.
  • Experience engaging, influencing & building strong, functional relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Possess a sound working knowledge of the Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations.

Eligibility.

Northern Star’s pre-employment process includes completing a full pre-employment medical, confirming you hold the relevant Australian work rights, and the ability to apply for an Australian National Police Clearance.
