Northern Star is currently looking for an experienced Group Mining Engineer to lead our Underground division. This permanent full-time role is based in our corporate office in Subiaco, with ad-hoc site travel as required. Reporting to the General Manager – Technical Services, this opportunity will suit a highly motivated mining engineering technical expert looking to play an integral part in our future growth and development.


What you can look forward to:

  • Leading and mentoring the corporate underground technical team.
  • Providing expert technical advice and support to executive and operational leaders.
  • Providing strategic direction to operations as required.
  • Lead mine planning, technical studies and feasibility assessments for operational and development projects.
  • Coordinating the annual consolidation of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves for JORC reporting.
  • Reviewing and auditing processes and systems across cut-off grade determination, life-of-mine planning, mine design, scheduling, project evaluation and execution.
  • Providing technical oversight and strategic guidance across underground mining operations.


Where you’ll add value:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience within the gold mining industry
  • Extensive experience working within an underground mining environment.
  • Strong understanding of the Work Health and Safety legislation and the application to underground mining operations.
  • Experience in leading mining studies, including scoping and feasibility work.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale mining projects across a range of mining methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mining software including Deswik.
  • Strong analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills.
  • Fantastic interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a high-performing team and build strong relationships across multiple levels of the business, including site-based personnel.


Qualifications
:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
  • Membership of AusIMM
  • Current WA “C” Class Manual Drivers Licence
