The Opportunity?

 

Northern Star currently has a newly created role for an experienced Manager to provide operational oversight of current and future Processing Projects. Based at our Subiaco Head Office this key position will provide technical support and management for processing & metallurgy projects across the Technical Services Department, as well as providing coaching & mentoring to Metallurgy Leads.

 

Responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Provide broad metallurgical and processing operations advice, including capital infrastructure.
  • Provide metallurgical and processing operations support to management.
  • Identification of business improvements, proposals of economic solutions, actions and progressing as agreed.
  • Project studies up to Pre-feasibility.
  • Develop and implement management with regards to security, safety, the environment and operational compliance with internal and external requirements.  This includes identification and solutions to identified shortcomings.
  • Maintain and improve mentoring programs for Northern Star processing and metallurgical personnel.
  • Appropriately liaise with technical and exploration personnel to ensure processing/metallurgical considerations are appropriate for scoping and pre-feasibility and other assessment works.
  • Review and audit existing processes and systems.
  • Undertake site-based relief work as & when required.

 

About you?

 

With extensive experience in a similar senior role (10+ years), you are well versed in the gold mining industry, and have a strong background in Metallurgical Engineering, with significant time spent working on site. Your career and specifically your broad experience, has provided you a detailed working knowledge & thorough understanding of best-practice principles, and you possess a genuine passion for delivering quality outcomes across your remit and imparting your knowledge & expertise on the team of professionals in your team, through coaching & mentoring.

 

On top of the above, the following will also see you set for success in this role:

 

  • A genuine passion for metallurgy & processing; with demonstrated ability to deliver or exceed industry best practice, as well as improve business capability & output.
  • A Tertiary Qualification in Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Possess a high level of technical expertise in extractive metallurgy.
  • Experience in, or exposure to operation & design would be highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication & people skills, with the ability to engage, influence & build strong, functional relationships.
  • Target driven & solutions orientated, you think strategically & outside the box to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead & develop a high-quality, professional, efficient & productive team.
  • Possess a high level of computer literacy across the MS Office Suite.
  • With a keen attention to detail, you are extremely well organised and possess excellent time-management skills.
  • With a passion for business improvement & innovation, you are creative in thought, conceptualisation and application.
