Northern Star Resources currently has an exciting opportunity for a GIS Analyst to join our team at our Subiaco Corporate Office on a permanent full-time basis, working Monday to Friday.

 

Reporting to the Environmental Manager – EMS and under the guidance of the principal GIS Developer you will maintain environmental spatial data and deliver GIS mapping products that support environmental approvals, compliance, mine closure planning, and operational decision-making across our operations. This role is ideal for an early-career GIS professional looking to grow their experience in the mining industry.

 

Here is what awaits you.

  • Respond to GIS and mapping requests from environmental teams across the business.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of GIS processes, standards and data management practices. 
  • Produce high-quality cartographic outputs for environmental approvals, regulatory submissions, compliance reporting, and mine closure planning.
  • Assist with the management, validation and quality assurance of environmental spatial data from internal and external sources.
  • Conduct spatial analysis including summary area calculations, proximity assessments, and environmental footprint mapping.
  • Assist with administering GIS user portal, web maps and spatial repositories.
  • Maintain metadata and data governance requirements to ensure spatial information remains accurate, accessible and auditable.

 

To thrive in this role, you will need.

Experience: Demonstrated 1-3 years of experience using GIS desktop platforms such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS, with strong spatial data management, cartography and Microsoft Office skills. Experience within mining, environmental, natural resources or consulting sectors, along with exposure to web/field GIS applications, spatial databases, environmental compliance processes, and GIS automation or scripting, will be highly regarded.

Qualifications: Hold a relevant Tertiary qualification in GIS, Geospatial Science, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
