We're seeking a Contracts Manager to oversee commercial and contract management for the Hemi Gold Project from our Subiaco Headquarters. This role is key to ensuring project success and commercial excellence, working with Northern Star’s project leadership across planning, construction, and commissioning.

 

Here’s what awaits you:

 

  • Lead the contracts team, ensuring commercial discipline and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including WHS, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Modern Slavery, privacy, and environmental obligations.
  • Partner with Legal to draft contracts, manage enforceable remedies, and handle defects liability, warranties, and termination frameworks.
  • Develop contracting strategies, including market engagement, packaging, pricing models, and risk allocation across various delivery models.
  • Prepare and manage RFT documentation, scopes, pricing structures, evaluation criteria, and insurance requirements.
  • Oversee prequalification and tender processes, including briefings, clarifications, and addenda, and lead commercial evaluations and contract negotiations.
  • Administer post-award contracts, including progress claims, certifications, variations, EOTs, and performance metrics, and manage claims and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor contractor performance across cost, schedule, quality, safety, ESG, and local content, integrating with Project Controls for forecasts, change management, and reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Construction, HSE, Finance, and Site Operation Teams to ensure robust commercial outcomes and align contractors with logistics, land access, permitting, heritage, and schedule requirements.
  • Drive value and lifecycle cost improvements through negotiated after-sales spares and services agreements, and prepare monthly commercial reporting on exposure, claims, risks, opportunities, and performance.
  • Complete contract close-out, including final accounts, securities, defects liability, IP, and warranties, and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Experience: 15+ years in contracts and commercial management across mining, energy, and infrastructure. Proven expertise with major contract types, legal/risk matters, negotiation, WHS, ESG, and industry systems.

 

Qualifications: Degree in Law, Commerce, QS, Engineering, or related field, with     additional professional accreditations such as MCIPS, AIQS, CPA/CA, or AIPM considered highly desirable.
