The Opportunity

Northern Star Resources are seeking motivated and trade passionate individuals to join our Maintenance Teams as an Apprentice in 2025. Opportunities available for only residential in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder area.

The Role

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, your primary focus as an Apprentice Boilermaker, will be to listen and learn from your experienced maintenance team, and to help ensure all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner, and in compliance with all statutory and Northern Star standard requirements.

You will be required to actively contribute towards achieving the Company’s vision by demonstrating a clear commitment to the STARR core values.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of steel structures and components.
  • Learn to interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand project specifications.
  • Perform welding, cutting, and shaping of metal materials using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair existing metal structures and plant equipment.
  • Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Work under the supervision of experienced boilermakers to develop technical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Participate in training sessions and complete required coursework for apprenticeship certification.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

 

Qualifications Required

  • Pre-apprenticeship or similar (desirable). 
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Minimum completion of year 12 or equivalent.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Ability to commit to 4 years apprenticeship

  • Have a genuine passion and interest in the apprenticeship you are applying for. 
  • Willing to work in different shifts and varying rosters. 
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work within a team. 
  • Self-motivated and consistently aim to deliver quality outcomes, with a strong focus on safety. 
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office etc.
  • Good communication skills.
