Position: Technical Services Superintendent

 

Work Location: Jundee Operations

 

Roster: 8/6 : 4/3

 

The Technical Services Superintendent reports to the Alternate Underground Managers, and the primary role is responsible for:

  1. Management of the Production, Geotechnical, Ventilation and Projects teams ensuring timely delivery of function outcomes to achieve the mine plan
  2. Manage and review all technical projects across the operation to ensure they are managed adequately, meeting statutory requirements and standards line with the business strategies,
  3. Supervision of contractors or project personnel,
  4. Monitoring and enacting plans to improve the daily performance of the mine, and
  5. Propose, design and execute practical business improvements.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Assist the Alternate Underground Managers and Underground Manager to develop the underground mines and associated activities to safely meet the company’s strategic goals.
  • Monitor the daily performance of production, infrastructure projects and bring any trends or issues which may compromise the three month and/or budget schedule to the attention of the Alternate Underground Managers with options to rectify the situation. 
  • Analyse and report on mining operational performance to identify any early interventions required to maintain performance and drive continuous improvement processes to lift mine performance.
  • Design and implement clear directions and information regarding the schedule and plans to Engineers, Foreman and Shift Supervisors. This includes clear communication of any controls required to safely undertake the work.
  • Identify business improvements, proposals of economic solutions, actions and progressing.
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to the engineering and technical roles. Develop personnel directly reporting to this position through coaching, training and regular appraisals.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need

 

Expertise and Accomplishments:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineer.
  • Minimum 7 years relevant experience in the mining industry, including mine planning, projects/infrastructure and production.
  • WA First Class Mine Manager Certification and completion of underground practical time (preferred).
  • Experience and knowledge of various mining methods with demonstrated success in leading a professional team.
  • Competent in the use of mine planning and design software – in particular Deswik CAD and Scheduler or similar package, Ventsim.
