Building on the ongoing success of our growth strategy and succession plan, our Thunderbox operations are seeking a Senior Metallurgist to join the team on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, FIFO ex Perth. Reporting to the Processing Manager, the Senior Metallurgist is responsible for the metallurgical performance of the processing plant whilst providing leadership and guidance to the metallurgy function and technical support to the operations and maintenance teams.

- Analyse metallurgical performance and cost information both historical and leading indicators to identify potential process improvement and assist in the accurate projection of future performance
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams
- Manage all reporting requirements; daily, weekly, monthly and taking the lead to develop the Processing Department Budget
- Identify, prioritise, and implement metallurgical projects. This includes engage and manage external contractors and consultants (as required)
- Actively support and participate in continuous improvement projects to assist in enhancing the performance of the processing plant operations
- Mentoring and coaching of Metallurgy Team to a standard that produces succession planning of departmental positions.
To thrive in this role, you'll need...
- Experience: The successful applicant will have a Minimum of five (5) years' experience in an operational gold and hydrometallurgical mining-mineral processing environment. This role will suit someone who has a demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence others in a positive manner with proven time management, planning and organisational skills.
- Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, valid Australian Drivers Licence.
- Passion for Growth: A desire to lead & contribute to the successful metallurgy team at Thunderbox as well as Northern Star's dynamic work environment.
