Position: Senior Geotechnical Engineer

 

Location: Thunderbox Operations

 

Roster: 8:6 – FIFO ex Perth

 

What you can look forward to:

  • Provide geotechnical support and support with key project work.
  • Propose safe and efficient mining plans to key site personnel.
  • Development of departmental systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Review and update Ground Control Management Plan/s (GCMP).
  • Carry out geotechnical evaluations, risk assessments and make geotechnical recommendations.
  • Investigate geotechnical occurrences and issues and make recommendations for solutions.
  • Look for, assess and implement Business Improvement opportunities.
  • Engage with site personnel on a regular basis to determine specialist geotechnical requirements.
  • Provide support, guidance and professional development opportunities to Geotechnical Engineer/s.
  • Prepare month-end reports documenting key activities/issues occurring in the month for submission.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring

 

Expertise and Accomplishments:

  • Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Geology.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the mining industry.
  • Sound practical application of geotechnical knowledge.
  • Clear understanding of regulatory requirements for open cut and underground mines.
  • Working knowledge of various mining methods, both surface and underground (e.g. long hole open stoping, jumbo stoping and underground backfill systems.)
  • Exposure to mine auditing and assessment techniques.
  • Computer literacy - Deswik, Map3D Numerical Modelling Software, Rocscience Software Suite Phase2, Dips & Unwedge and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong report writing skills.
