About the opportunity:
Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Environmental Advisor to ensure all company and contracting personnel are educated and supported in understanding their safety responsibilities at our world-class Thunderbox Operations. This role will report to the Environment Superintendent, on a FIFO 8:6 roster.
Here’s what awaits you:
- Oversee compliance with all regulatory and company requirements
- Interpret legislation, government guidelines and approvals.
- Lead the preparation, submission and compliance of all Environmental statutory and company standards including amending approvals as required.
- Manage, maintain and ensure monitoring requirements are undertaken as per Premise licence, Mining Proposals, Mine Closure Plan, Groundwater licences, Tenement conditions and other environmental compliance documentation.
- Manage the collection, preservation, & dispatch of samples for analysis relating to environmental approval and license conditions, proactive monitoring & environmental incident investigation.
- Analyse, interpret and report environmental monitoring results.
- Formulate and coordinate remedial actions for any environmental non-compliances and hazards.
- Lead, where required, significant environmental incident investigation.
- Manage the follow up corrective actions required with the respective department managers.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and have an active involvement in external audits as required.
- Support the implementation of the Environmental Management System.
- Collate reports accurately to meet legislative and statutory requirements
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Experience: Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar role, including mining industry experience and environmental monitoring experience, with a strong understanding of environmental impacts associated with a mining and processing operation.
Qualifications: Hold a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in an Environment related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution. St Johns Senior First Aid certificate also desirable.
