Northern Star Resources currently has an exciting opportunity for an Open Pit Mining Engineer to join the team at our Thunderbox Operations, working an ongoing 8/6 roster, on a permanent & full-time basis.
Here is what awaits you:
- Daily co-ordination and scheduling of all mining activities including load and haul, drill and blast, and other ancillary mining activities.
- Mine design requirements such as pit changes, roads, waste dumps and other infrastructure.
- Generating weekly and monthly mining plans.
- Assisting in the generation of quarterly, budget and longer term mining schedules and planning.
- Drill and Blast Design, QA/QC of drill and blast activities.
- End of day/week/month reporting for all mining activities and compliance against schedule.
- Monitoring and reporting of mining costs and assist in the management of cost controls.
- Investigation of optimal mining methods and schedules for the total mine reserves.
To thrive in this role, you will need:
Experience:
The ideal candidate will be competent in using mining software packages such as Deswik. They should be able to prepare clear, accurate reports and demonstrate strong analytical skills. Completion of practical open‑pit experience is highly desirable. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also essential.
Qualifications:
Hold a Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline, coupled with a current Australian C - Class Drivers licence.
