Position: Mining Engineer – Open Pit

 

Work Location: Thunderbox Operations

 

Roster: 8 days on 6 days off

 

What you can look forward to:

  • Daily co-ordination and scheduling of all mining activities including load and haul, drill and blast, and other ancillary mining activities.
  • Mine design requirements such as pit changes, roads, waste dumps and other infrastructure.
  • Generating weekly and monthly mining plans.
  • Assisting in the generation of quarterly, budget and longer term mining schedules and planning.
  • Drill and Blast Design, QA/QC of drill and blast activities.
  • End of day/week/month reporting for all mining activities and compliance against schedule.
  • Monitoring and reporting of mining costs and assist in the management of cost controls.
  • Investigation of optimal mining methods and schedules for the total mine reserves.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

 

Expertise & Accomplishment

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Competence with mining software packages e.g. Deswik.
  • Ability to prepare reports and good analytical skills.
  • Open pit practical time completed is highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
