Roster: 8/6, 4/3

 

Reporting to the Underground Manager/Alternate Underground Manager, and the primary role is responsible for:

  1. Lead the Planning Team and ensure the long-term growth and viability of the Mining Operation,
  2. Deliver short, medium and long term mine plans, to optimise the life of mine,
  3. Oversee and optimise mine planning practices and procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction,
  4. Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and development opportunities to team members.
  5. Propose, design and execute practical business improvement plans.  

What can look forward to:

  • Oversee and manage Mine Planning Team to deliver weekly, monthly, quarterly, H2, Budget and Life-of-Mine (LOM) forecasts.
  • Generate Life of Mine Asset and Resource and Reserve reports.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise mining processes and new technology in the mining processes.
  • Oversee all mine design from initial long-term plans through to final Approved Development Designs (ADD’s) and Stope Extraction Plans (SEP’s).
  • Complete conceptual mining studies on new ore bodies and explore options for alternate mining methods where applicable.
  • Finalise unit costs and cut-off grade calculations for estimation purposes and educate all production and technical underground staff.
  • Oversee and review economic evaluations for each mine design completed within the Mine Planning Team. Ensure all designs are optimised such that financial objectives are being met and all material meets determine cut-off grades.
  • Update and maintain mine planning and design procedures.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need

 

Expertise and Accomplishments:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (Desirable).
  • Significant experience in all planning processes, from long to short term.
  • Experience and knowledge of various mining methods with demonstrated success in leading a professional team.
  • Competent in the use of mine planning and design software - in particular Deswik CAD, Sched and SO.
