About our role:

Northern Star Resources has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our world-class Jundee operations. This position is offered on 8 days on 6 days off rotation, FIFO ex Perth only.

This position reports to the Senior Metallurgist, and the primary role is to carry out routine and non-routine plant sampling as directed by the Senior Metallurgist and report results in an efficient and timely manner within the Processing Department. The role also includes assaying and QA/QC for solid solution grades, carbons, inventory profiles and any other monitoring of plant operations. The Technician is expected to maintain optimum performance of equipment and personal development to achieve lowest cost production.

 

Key accountabilities may include:

  • Conduct the assigned routine sampling and assaying of plant samples, including the hypersaline duties
  • Operate the Jaw Crusher, Pulveriser, Dust Extractor, Sieve Shaker, Bottle Roller, AAS, fume cupboard and the Drying Ovens and their associated equipment in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure equipment and processes are undertaken in accordance with established procedures and report any issues or problems arising which have an impact on Assaying and processing
  • Ensure all reagents storage is as per Australian standard of Dangerous Goods and the facility is checked and all is stored in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure all standards are made and the procedures are undertaken in accordance with established procedures and report any issues or problems arising impacting on Assaying and AA Operation
  • Quality control and reporting of all routine sampling and other relevant data both on file and computer to ensure accurate data is maintained and reported in a timely manner
  • Comply with all safety and process procedures
  • Comply with all reasonable and lawful instructions that are consistent with your contract of employment

 

Required skills and experience:

  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
  • 2 years previous experience in a similar role (gold mining preferred)
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and foster team building relationships.
  • High attention to detail
  • Computer literacy - Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Exposure to Pronto procurement system
  • Good communication skills
