Northern Star Resources currently has a rare opportunity for an IT Systems Analyst to join the team at our Carosue Dam Operations, working an ongoing fly in / out, 8 days on / 6 days off roster, on a permanent & full-time basis.

Reporting to the Regional IT Superintendent, this role will ensure the IT systems and computing environments are managed and maintained effectively and efficiently to provide maximum service availability and security. You will also provide support to NSR IT users, across desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and common software application. The IT Systems Analyst will also run small to medium sized IT projects on-site and assist Production Centre IT Teams to implement larger projects on-site.

  • Provide best practice customer service to NSR employees and contractors.
  • Hands on management, provision, and support of IT systems, including connectivity issues, installing & maintaining desktops, laptops, servers, network equipment, applications, and monitoring operational status.
  • Troubleshoot & resolve end-user computing issues on desktops, laptops, networks, printers, mobile devices, and common business applications.
  • Participate in the on-call roster, being available for occasional urgent remote support issues via call, text message, or Teams while on-call.
  • Implement & maintain regular backups for all on-site servers and ensure that disaster recovery plans are maintained, up to date and tested at least annually.
  • Ensure maximum availability, performance & reliability of IT systems in compliance with the Information Technology Policy.
  • Advise NSR staff & contractors on IT security best practices and ensure compliance with the Information Technology Policy.
  • Assist Corporate or Production Centre IT with implementing IT projects on-site.
  • Ensure that decommissioned equipment is secured, and data is destroyed as per the Data Management Standard.
  • Maintain all passwords for network & security equipment and applications in the IT password management system.
  • Evaluate, recommend & implement IT solutions based on Company standards & best practices.
  • Install & maintain computing hardware & applications, including Windows & Windows Server, Office 365 etc on desktops, laptops, mobile devices & servers.
  • Maintain up to date monitoring dashboards & hardware registers.
  • Manage user & service accounts, change in account details & account terminations.
  • Monitor the IT Service Desk, ensuring that support incidents are dealt with in a timely manner and support incidents are escalated when required.
  • Procure IT hardware, software & services in compliance with Company Policies & Information Technology Standards.
  • Plan & implement medium-sized site-based IT projects, such as network extensions, hardware refreshes & application upgrades, managing contractors that are required to implement these projects.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree majoring in computer studies from a recognised tertiary institution or demonstrated equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting IT system infrastructure, and 2 years relevant experience in the mining industry.
  • Microsoft and VMware Certifications or demonstrated equivalent work experience in large multi-site network environments.
  • ITIL Certification, ideally coupled with experience working within an ITIL framework.
  • Experience implementing, operating, and supporting large multi-site IT environments, including Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Windows Server, SCCM, SQL, Active Directory, backups and disaster recovery, Terminal Services, VMware, and security services.
  • Some knowledge and experience in supporting network systems (Cisco routing and switching, wireless connectivity, firewalls, VOIP, VPN, and network monitoring tools) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in implementing and supporting IT systems.
