About the opportunity:
Northern Star Resources have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Coordinator to join the team at our Jundee Operations. This is offered an 8/6 roster, FIFO ex Perth. Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, this role will support all site departments with ensuring adherence to the legal standards and Northern Star Resources health, safety and training requirements.
Here’s what awaits you:
- Promote and adhere to all safety requirements across the Company in compliance with all statutory regulations.
- Proactive involvement with continuous OHS improvement processes with active participation in all communication
- Ensure site teams comply with the MSIA Regulations and continually develop the Safety Management System (SMS) to remain relevant to all stakeholders.
- Conduct regular in field safety interactions, CCV’s and equipment inspections of work sites and inform supervisors of unsafe practices, conditions, and possible safety and health hazards.
- Mentor, Coaching and support all departments in Safety systems and processes including facilitating investigations and ICAMs.
- Monitoring and moderate INX to ensure data is accurate and events are closed out and actions followed up through to closure.
- Conduct Health and Hygiene investigations and follow up.
- Present Health & Safety stats and incident trends at all Safety toolbox meetings.
- Prepare and submit reports to management regarding industrial health performance and highlighting problem areas.
- Respond to site emergencies and incidents as part of the Emergency Management Team (as delegated).
- Review incident investigations to ensure adequate quality and remedial actions are appropriate and implemented and escalate appropriately.
- Develop health and safety initiatives and be proactive in Site Safety projects as directed and promote across the site.
- Participate and facilitate risk assessments of site work activities and conditions and support all departments.
- Monitor the completion of recommendations and actions from incident investigations, inspections and audits.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Experience: 3 years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety, including mining industry experience. Strong understanding of the Work Health & Safety Act, risk management processing (ICAM highly regarded), INX and safety programs. Experience in conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, workplace inspections and audits essential.
Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety, Lead Auditor Qualifications (preferred) and Current Australian C - Class Drivers Licence
