About the opportunity:

Northern Star Resources have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Coordinator at our Jundee Operations, FIFO on an 8:6 roster. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the successful candidate will provide guidance and support to site-based Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Teams on matters relating to safety and systems, including providing advice to Operational leaders on matters including site audits, inspections, WHS systems and incidents.

  • Promote and adhere to all safety requirements across the Company in compliance with all statutory regulations.
  • Operate in accordance with and comply the Company’s Safety and Health Policy, Environmental policy, and with all site policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure site teams comply with the WHS legislation and regulations and continually develop the Safety Management System (SMS) to remain relevant to all Stakeholders.
  • Provide continuous support, guidance and direction to employees and contractors for all safety and health requirements.
  • Review incident investigations to ensure adequate quality and remedial actions are appropriate and implemented.
  • Advise on system improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure statutory reporting requirements are fulfilled for the Company.
  • Develop safety initiatives where required and promote across all sites.
  • Facilitate delivery of results on quoted targets.
  • Participate in risk assessments of site work activities and conditions
  • Monitor the completion of recommendations and actions from incident investigations, inspections, and audits
  • Review site requirements and processes for effective safety management and manage all relevant documentation for the company
  • Communication changes to company level documents to ensure clear understanding across all sites

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years’ experience in Workplace Health and Safety, including experience in a remote FIFO environment, with a strong understanding on mining and minerals processing operations and its safety systems.
  • Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety (or similar)current Australian C - Class Drivers Licence, and Senior First Aid Certificate. Lead Auditor Qualifications and Certificate IV Training and Assessment also highly regarded.
  • Passion for growth: Genuine passion for the Australian gold mining industry with high regard for safety
