We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Thunderbox Operations.

 

Reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent, you will provide geotechnical support across both open pit and underground operations, contributing to safe mine design, ground support, monitoring and geotechnical risk management.

 

What you can look forward to:

  • Provide geotechnical support to the operation and ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct underground and surface inspections in response to geotechnical hazards and operational requests.
  • Maintain geotechnical hazard reporting and QA/QC systems.
  • Collect, analyse and interpret data from instrumentation, monitoring systems and inspection records.
  • Provide geotechnical input to the mine design and scheduling process.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of the geotechnical designs.
  • Conduct geotechnical mapping of underground and surface excavations.
  • Support seismic monitoring, data processing, analysis and reporting.

 

Where you’ll add value:

  • Experience working in a mining geotechnical environment across open pit and/or underground operations.
  • Experience with mine design software, particularly Deswik.
  • Experience with seismic monitoring systems, including IMS.
  • Familiarity with Map3D and Phase2 numerical modelling software.
  • Familiarity with Dips and Unwedge geotechnical software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with operational and technical teams.

 

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Current unrestricted WA C Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
