Northern Star Resources currently has an excellent Geotechnical Engineer role available at our Thunderbox Operations. This is a chance to join a supportive technical team and grow your career in a long-term, rewarding environment, complemented by an 8:6 roster.
Here’s what awaits you:
- Underground and surface inspections in response to geotechnical hazard reports or other requests.
- Maintenance of geotechnical hazard reporting and QA/QC systems.
- Data collection and analysis of information from instrumentation, monitoring systems and underground and surface inspection records.
- Provide geotechnical support and assistance to the operation, ensuring that the operation complies with all the relevant company and statutory requirements.
- Provide geotechnical input to the mine design and scheduling process.
- Design the ground support and monitor its performance.
- Conduct geotechnical mapping of underground and surface excavations.
- Provide support with maintaining the seismic system.
- Provide support with seismic data processing, analysis & reporting.
To thrive in this role, you will need:
Experience:
- Practical knowledge of rock mechanics, tunnelling, surface excavations or mining engineering.
- Experience with mine design software - Deswik.
- Experience with seismic monitoring systems – IMS
- Familiar with Map3D & Phase2 Numerical Modelling software.
- Familiar with Dips & Unwedge Geotechnical software.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Driver's Licence (Manual).
