Geology Technician

Take the next step in your career with Northern Star, reporting to the Geology Technical Supervisor, you will provide technical and operational support to the Geology team across core processing, sampling, QAQC, drill site preparation and field activities.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a Geology Technician with 6+ months of relevant experience looking to develop their skills and gain valuable hands-on experience within a producing gold operation.

 

What you can look forward to:

 

  • Completing meter marking, photographing, cutting and sample collection of diamond core in a timely manner and in line with core processing priorities.
  • Ensuring appropriate QAQC samples are included in all submissions.
  • Completing sample submissions accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Transporting samples as required.
  • Ensuring the storage and accurate cataloguing of diamond core in the core farm is completed thoroughly and in accordance with procedures.
  • Assisting with drill site preparation and rehabilitation.
  • Completing collar mark-ups and recording GPS coordinates.
  • Supervising earthworks and crane lifts in accordance with site specifications.
  • Preparing drill sites by marking drill pads and sumps, identifying hazards and ensuring sites are drill-ready.
  • Providing general support and logistics to the Geology team as required.
  • Managing geological data using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Undertaking additional duties as required by the Geology team on a day-to-day basis.

 

Where you’ll add value:

 

  • Previous experience in a Geology Technician or similar role, ideally with 6+ months of relevant site experience.
  • Computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to plan daily activities, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to safety and adherence to site procedures.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
  • Current approved and recognised forklift ticket (Desired)
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable)
  • 4WD operation and recovery skills (desirable)
