Northern Star Resources are looking for a dynamic Geology Technician at our Thunderbox Operation. Join our team on a 8:6 roster and FIFO from Perth. 


Here's what awaits you:

 

  • Drilling Support
    • Survey drillhole locations and grid lines using GPS.
    • Assist with the preparation and rehabilitation of drill sites.
    • Collect samples and geological data from Reverse Circulation and Aircore drillholes under supervision.
    • Pick up drillhole collar coordinates using a differential DGPS.
    • Conduct daily pre-starts on mobile and fixed plant machinery.

 

  • Diamond Core Processing
  • Retrieve core trays and assist with core transport from drill sites.
  • Conduct metre and orientation mark-up.
  • Collect geological data (Recovery, RQD, Specific Gravity, Mag Susceptibility, XRF, ASD).
  • Photograph and saw drill core; sample as directed by supervising geologist.
  • Support with data entry, drill core storage, and retrieval.

 

To thrive in the role, you’ll need:

 

Qualifications: 

  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Valid Forklift (LF) ticket
  • St John’s Senior First Aid is highly desirable
  • 4WD operation and recovery skills

 


Desired Experience & Skills: 

  • Previous experience as a Field Assistant or in a similar role (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent numeracy and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to plan daily activities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team
  • Adaptability and a strong willingness to learn and improve
