Gain valuable experience and skills at one of Northern Stars renowned open pit gold mine operations whilst being trained up to be a successful Geology Technician.

 

Northern Star Resources are looking for multiple dynamic Geology Technicians at our Thunderbox Operation offering a family friendly rotation 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO ex Perth. 

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Process, sample and collect data from diamond drill core.
  • Collect core trays from drill sites.
  • Mark out drill core; metre and orientation mark-up.
  • Collect geological data (e.g. Recovery, RQD, Specific Gravity, Magnetic Susceptibility).
  • Photograph core trays.
  • Saw drill core and collection of samples as directed by the supervising geologist.
  • Drill core storage and retrieval.
  • Sample preparation as required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate sample dispatch to assay laboratories.
  • Data entry as required.
  • Sample pulp storage and retrieval.

 

To thrive in the role, you’ll need:

 

Experience: The ideal candidate will have 6 to 12 months of relevant experience in mining and/or exploration. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is essential, alongside excellent numeracy skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities are also required.

 

Attention to detail is crucial, along with the capability to plan daily activities and meet deadlines. The candidate should be able to work independently as needed while also being a collaborative team player.

 

Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices is important. A St John's Senior First Aid certificate is desirable, as are mechanical knowledge and skills, as well as 4WD operation and recovery skills.

 

Qualifications: Unencumbered C class WA drivers licence and a current approved and recognised forklift ticket

 

Passion for Growth: Excellent interpersonal communication skills are a must, as is a willingness to learn!
