Northern Star Resources currently has an exciting opportunity at our Thunderbox operations for a Geologist - Operations to join the team. This position offers a convenient 8:6 roster and the chance to work within a high-performing, supportive technical group. Be part of a team striving for sustained excellence and contribute to the continued success of our operations.

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Deliver accurate production data, forecasts and associated daily reports.
  • Perform geological checks on headings where there is some uncertainty of whether ore is present in the broken rock and clearly communicate the results to the production team.
  • Consciously look for and identify opportunity structures underground. Interpret, mark up, and wall map these structures and get survey to pick them up. Pass on the information about these structures to the Senior Geologist for follow-up work.
  • Reconcile development and stope production tonnes and grade back to the grade control model and as part of end of month reconciliation process.
  • Logging and supervision of underground diamond drilling programs.
  • Interpret all data collected on a regular basis and communicate relevant information to the appropriate personnel (Senior Geologists, Planning Engineers, Surveyors, Mine Foremen).

 

To thrive in this role, you will need:

 

Experience:

1-2 years practical experience, preferably in gold and underground. Desirable skills include competency using Leapfrog, Datamine and Acquire with demonstrated working knowledge of up to date QA/QC processes and techniques. This coupled with understanding of forward planning and ability to be versatile is ideal.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology and a C Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
