Position: Alternate Underground Manager

 

Work Location: Jundee Operations

 

Roster: 8/6

 

The Alternate Underground Manager reports to the Underground Manager, and the primary role is responsible for:

  • Develop the underground mine and associated activities to safely meet the Company’s strategic goals. 
  • Directly control, manage and supervise the operational teams including external contractors and/or Northern Star Mining Services.
  • Generate operating plans and budgets that align with the Company’s operating requirements and maximise the underground mine’s contribution to the Operation.    
  • Provide support, mentoring and supervision to the engineering team and technical roles.

What can look forward to:

  • Forecasts and develop mining strategy with assistance from the geology department, mining operations, planning and production engineers.
  • Economic assessments on regional stoping blocks to ensure financial viability, inclusive of associated development and infrastructure.
  • Develop mine design, planning guidelines and strategies for the department to optimise mining processes.
  • Conceptual mining studies on new ore bodies.
  • Compilation of forecasts and Life of Mine plans.
  • Finalise unit cost calculations for estimation purposes and educate all production and technical underground staff.
  • Explore alternate mining methods that may have the potential to reduce operating costs.
  • Develop collaborative, performance driven, value-adding relationships with key Business Partners and succession plan for the team.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Experience:

  • Competent user of Deswik packages (Sched, CAD, SO, MDM).
  • Practical experience on large scale underground mining operations, including new projects ramp up and multi-site operations.
  • Ability to influence, communicate risks, realistic plans and delivering compelling presentations.
  • Deep working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act & Regulation. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
  • WA Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency.
