Northern Star Resources is seeking an experienced Systems Analyst to join our team at KCGM on a residential basis.

 

As the Systems Analyst in Kalgoorlie, you will be responsible for ensuring the Company’s IT systems and computing environments are managed and maintained effectively and efficiently to provide maximum service availability and security as well as assisting with providing support to the Company’s IT users, desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and common software applications used across all business units.

 

This is a Kalgoorlie residential role with a 8/6 roster working 12-hour days.

 

 

Here’s what awaits you: 

  • Plan and implement medium-sized site-based IT projects, such as network extensions, hardware refreshes, and application upgrades, and manage contractors that may be required to implement these projects.
  • Perform housekeeping & preventative maintenance on Server infrastructure, Network infrastructure, including Windows Servers, VMware virtualisation platforms, & Cisco managed switches & routers.
  • Provide helpful and friendly customer service to Northern Star employees and contractors.
  • Hands-on management, provision, and support of IT systems on-site, including connectivity issues, installing, and maintaining desktops, laptops, servers, network equipment, applications, and monitoring operational status.
  • Participate in the on-call roster, and while on-call be available for remote & on-site support for occasional urgent issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date monitoring dashboards and hardware registers for servers, network equipment, desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Install and maintain computing hardware and applications, including Windows and Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and other business applications on desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and servers.
  • Advise Northern Star staff and contractors on IT security best practices and ensure compliance with various Information Technology policies.
  • Ensure that decommissioned equipment is secured, and data is destroyed as per the Data Management Standard.
  • On occasion, monitor the IT Service Desk and ensure that support incidents are dealt with in a timely manner, and support incidents are escalated to senior IT staff or IT management when required. 

 

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Essential

  • 2 years of relevant experience in the mining industry or similar.
  • 3 years of System Administration experience in Microsoft Windows Server environments, including exposure to Active Directory and Microsoft Azure.
  • Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent work experience, including managed switches, VLAN & routing configuration.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Desired

  • Exposure to Operational Technology networking, such as point-to-point Wi-Fi and LTE.
  • ITIL certification and or experience working within an ITIL framework.
  • Experience implementing, operating, and supporting large multi-site IT environments, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, SCCM, SQL, Active Directory, backups and disaster recovery, VMware, and security services.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in implementing and supporting IT systems.
  • Degree majoring in computer studies from a recognised tertiary institution or demonstrated equivalent work experience.
