We have an enticing Shotfirer position awaiting you at the iconic KCGM Superpit that boasts a +10-year mine life. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, your journey begins in a dynamic work environment with the Drill & Blast team at our Open Pit Mine on a family friendly Kalgoorlie-based residential  7:7 roster, 12-hour day shifts with occasional night shifts, depending on the business requirement and mine cycle.

 

Here’s what awaits you:

 

  • Carrying out Open Pit charging and blasting activities safely, and in accordance with the blast plan.
  • Accounting for all explosives used and participate in magazine and shot reconciliations.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory and standard operating procedures in relation to designing, charging and firing of Open Pit blasts, includes being a registered on-site Shotfirer and Magazine Keeper.
  • Completing a large variety of physical tasks, quality control and use of different blasting techniques.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

 

Essential

Minimum one year experience on a blast crew in an Open Pit environment highly regarded. Current West Australian Shotfirers' Permit. Current West Australian Dangerous Goods Security Card. Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Manual Drivers Licence. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions. Must reside in the Goldfields region or willing to relocate.

 

Preferred

Completion of Year Twelve (12) Secondary Education. Senior First Aid Certificate. Current Unencumbered Western Australian 'MR’ class Drivers Licence. National Police Clearance less than 12 Months. Current Working at Heights Certificate within two (2) years of age
