We have an enticing Senior Shotfirer position awaiting you at the iconic KCGM Superpit that boasts a +10-year mine life. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, your journey begins in a dynamic work environment with the Drill & Blast team at our Open Pit Mine on a family friendly Kalgoorlie-based residential 7:7 roster, 12-hour day shifts with occasional night shifts, depending on the business requirement and mine cycle.
Here’s what awaits you:
- Supervising and assisting with the loading and firing of blast holes in accordance with the blast plan. Conducting all checks and procedures relating to shotfiring including monitoring shot clearances, and checking for misfires, always properly reconciling and securing magazine and compound daily. Completing the daily inspection report.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and standard operating procedures in relation to designing, charging and firing of Open Pit blasts.
- Back up for the Blast Supervisor in their absence to ensure the blast plan can be delivered in a safe and timely manner.
- Directing the Blast Crew and ensure all instructions and priorities from the Blast Supervisor are carried out including the interpretation of the daily blast plan, to deliver results in a safe and timely manner.
- Ensuring reporting of all incidents and accidents, reviewing and monitoring all incident and accident reports. Ensuring investigations and actions are correctly completed and implemented
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Qualifications: Current West Australian Dangerous Goods Security Card, WA Shotfiring Licence, Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers. Licence.
Experience:
Essential - Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Senior Shotfirer in an Open Pit environment, Must reside Kalgoorlie or willing to relocate.
Preferred - Completion of Year Twelve (12) Secondary Education, Senior First Aid Certificate, National Police Clearance less than 12 Months, Current Unencumbered Western Australian ‘LR’ Class Drivers Licence.
