We have an enticing residential Senior Project Metallurgist position awaiting you at the world class KCGM Operation that boasts a +10-year mine life. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, join our esteemed technical team on the convenience of an 5:2, 4:3 (10-hour days) roster. 

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Proactively encourage reporting of all incidents and accidents, review and monitor all incident and accident reports of relevant area ensuring investigations and follow up actions are correctly implemented and completed to ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is complied with at all times.
  • Liaise with the leadership team of Mineral Processing over identification, prioritisation and implementation of metallurgical projects. Lead and develop immediate direct report in metallurgical practices and project management.
  • Analyse metallurgical performance and cost information both historical and leading indicators to identify potential process improvement and assist in the accurate projection of future performance. Manage a portfolio of projects that demonstrably add value to the metallurgical process / plant outcomes.
  • Manage ore characterisation test program to support KCGM growth profile. Actively support and participate in continuous improvement projects to assist in enhancing the performance of the KCGM’s process plant operations. Engage and manage external contractors and consultants (as required) to support project progress. Manage project budgets on a specific project & portfolio basis.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in mineral processing or related industries. Metallurgical project management experience. A working knowledge of metallurgical testwork flowsheets and procedures. Demonstrates sound process analysis skills. Leadership skills including the ability to coach and mentor junior professionals. High level of computer skills, particularly Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation, and prepare technical reports to a high standard.

Qualifications: A tertiary qualification (minimum degree level) in Chemical Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy, or a related discipline. Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence. Statutory Supervisor 26 qualification.
