We have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Mine Planning Engineer to join our high performing Underground Technical Services team at our KCGM Operations at the new Fimiston Underground Mine. This opportunity is offered on 4/3 roster, 12-hour days, either residentially based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder – the Heart of the Goldfields, or Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) ex Perth.

Reporting to the Underground Manager, the primary role is for the safe management and delivery of all Planning requirements within the Mining Engineering team.

 

What you can look forward to:

  • Direct responsibility for supervision of Mine Planning & Scheduling Engineers and provide them with leadership, mentorship, training, and development opportunities.
  • Design, optimise and provide cost analysis for underground mine plans, from Long-term multi-level designs to individual level and stope mining plans, from mining method to equipment selection, maximising safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly mining schedules to the technical team.
  • Prepare and deliver FY budget and H2 Mining physicals and associated executive level presentations and evaluations.
  • Collaborate with department seniors for optimisation and execution plan of bringing long term designs into the budget year execution period.
  • Co-ordinate and Manage capital works mining contractors i.e. raise bore, escape way, infrastructure installations.
  • Assist Long term planning with Ore Reserve preparations in accordance with JORC code definitions and Life of Asset mine design generation.
  • Identify & implement opportunities to optimise mining processes and provide business improvement strategies.

Expertise & Accomplishments:

  • Advanced skills and user of Deswik packages (CAD, IS, SO)
  • Practical experience in variety of mining methods - from narrow vein to large-scale open stoping/sub level caving or similar experience.
  • Experience in co-ordinating a team in large scale underground mining operations, including remnant mining, mining around voids and new discovery mining areas.
  • Strong collaboration skills and techniques to co-ordinate mining activity across multiple mining areas through different time periods of the business needs
  • Previous experience with financial modelling/costing
  • Ability to influence, communicate risks, realistic plans and delivering compelling presentations.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering
  • +7 years’ experience in underground mining operations
  • +2 years in UG Mine Planning and Scheduling roles
  • WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (desirable)
  • Unrestricted C Class drivers’ licence
