We are seeking a strong Senior Mining Engineer to join our underground team at the historic Mt Charlotte Underground mine located at KCGM, Kalgoorlie. As this is a mine operation critical position for safe production, the role functions on a 12 hour shift 8/6 rostered position. Offered residentially, this role will reap the benefit of being no more than 10 minutes from your front door in Kalgoorlie with majority of the team extracting the best work life balance, living, and working in the heart of the Goldfields. FIFO from Perth will be considered for the preferred candidate.

This challenging and dynamic role will enable an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead a technical team of scheduling, drill and blast, ventilation and graduate engineers, driving safe production from the operational team. Northern Star Resources has breathed life back into Mt Charlotte increasing the reserve base to over 1M ounces. There are multiple mining methods; Modified Avoca, Bulk open stoping and Sub level Caving to sink your teeth into and master. The operation is on a growing and planning to expand its mining horizons which makes for an ideal time for a candidate to join who is keen to be part of taking the operation to new levels of safe production.

Here’s what awaits you:

• Lead and co-ordinate drill & blast and ancillary designs for the mining engineers in line with the weekly plan
• Lead and provide guidance to the ventilation engineers with the co-ordination of vent surveys and evaluations on new and existing mining areas, ensuring statutory ventilation tasks are being completed.
• Providing guidance and coaching to the Scheduling Engineers in the generation of the weekly and 3 monthly mining schedules.
• Main point of contact to the Underground Mine Foreman for planning and executing the weekly plan and holding the technical team accountable.
• Responsible for managing stope reconciliation, highlighting areas of risk and opportunities.
• Management of contractors providing production supported services such as slot rising, ground support installation, production drilling and charging
• Accountability to ensure blast vibration monitoring, recording, and reporting is compliant with site and statutory requirements of site.
• Contribute and support the Underground Manager in facilitating DEMIRS visits, inspections, and investigations.
• Cover Alternate Underground Manager functionality as required and utilise knowledge to provide statutory guidance to the operation.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Experience: Minimum of 5 years UG hard rock mining experience. Experience using Deswik CAD and Scheduler packages. Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Experience working with a mining contractor. Experience in a high output mines and or mines that utilises Sub Level Caving, Modified Avoca or Sub Level Open Stoping. Underground Mine Rescue Experience. Experience using Power BI.

Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering. Current Unencumbered Western Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence. First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.
