We have an enticing residential Senior Mining Engineer position awaiting you at the world class Kanowna Belle Operation that boasts a +5-year mine life. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, join our esteemed technical team on the convenience of an 8/6 (12-hour days) roster. 

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Manage and coordinate mining activities to ensure the production physicals, as directed by the relevant schedules, are achieved, and also to provide guidance and mentoring to Mining Engineers in order to achieve the prescribed objectives. Lead and mentor team of Drill and Blast and Ventilation Engineers. In absence of Underground Manager, may be required to fill the role of Deputy Underground Manager.
  • Prepare the three-month forecast in consultation with the Underground Manager, Drill and Blast Engineers, Short Term Planning Engineers, Project Manager and Mine Foreman as a minimum. Provide feedback to the Long-Term Planning Engineer in the form of a constructive discussion involving the Underground Manager.
  • Each Month review and communicate any changes (proposed or accepted) to the three-month forecast at the Monthly Mine Planning meeting (rolling three-month plan).You will be responsible for the development of functional work plans for the Mining Department ensuring production and strategic requirements are met. You will also be responsible for the achievement of the plans and goals through ongoing monitoring of progress.
  • Review and approve production drilling and charging plans. Conceptualise, initiate, present and implement specific improvement projects including any specific infrastructure projects required for productivity and profitability gains by the mine. Coordinate and manage the stope reconciliation process generating and keeping the required internal reporting records such as end of month & end of stope reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and manage the end of month summaries and reports and any other measures that may be required to enable good management of the mine and the mining contract (eg. KPI rising summary report, Mining EOM report. Ensure the completion of mine development and stoping designs in a timely manner to comply with the weekly targets as determined by the three-month forecast.
  • In conjunction with the Long-Term Planning Engineer, ensure adequate resources and capital allocations are available to achieve the Life of Mine schedules including fleet size, manning levels, services and materials, plans and other engineering directions.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

 

Experience: Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering. Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence. St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable). National Police Clearance within 12 months (desirable). WA First Class Mine Management Certificate.

 

Qualifications: Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the mining industry. Ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological and environmental tasks. Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices. Underground production and planning experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine. Experience with air leg, long hole open stope, narrow vein and room and pillar mining methods. Geotechnical and backfill engineering. Demonstrated success in leading a professional team. Detailed working knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations. Competent in the use of mine planning and scheduling software applications. Good skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications. Ability to communicate effectively across all levels. Strong report writing and presentation skills Ability to read and write English at an Australian Upper Secondary School standard.
