We seek a strong Senior Mining Engineer to join our Open Pit Team at KCGM Operations.

This role is Kalgoorlie residential on a 5/2 4/3 roster, working 9-hour shifts.

Reporting to the Alternate Open Pit Manager, this challenging and dynamic role will enable an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead a technical team of scheduling, drill and blast and graduate engineers, driving safe production from the operational team.  The asset continues to grow, which is the ideal time for a candidate to join who wants to develop their career.

Here’s what awaits you:

• Lead and coordinate pit and ancillary designs for the mining engineers per the weekly plan.
• Providing guidance and coaching to the Scheduling Engineers.
• Main point of contact to the Alternate Open Pit Manager for planning and executing the weekly, monthly, and quarterly plan and holding the technical team accountable.
• Manage weekly and monthly reconciliations highlighting areas of risk and opportunities.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years open pit hard rock mining experience.
• Experience using Deswik CAD and Scheduler packages.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong leadership skills and experience leading a diverse team of new-to-industry engineers.
• Ability to hold themselves and others accountable to their roles and responsibilities.
• Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Preferred

• Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency.
• Experience working with a mining contractor or working for a mining company.
• Experience designing drill and blast patterns with basic knowledge in drill and blast.
• Experience working in a bigger team and experience dealing with production supervisors.
• Experience using Power BI.
