We have an exciting Senior Metallurgist position awaiting you at the world class Kanowna Belle  Operation that boasts a +10-year mine life. The plant treats refractory and free-milling ores and includes SABC, gravity, flotation, roasting and multiple CIL circuits. We have some interesting and challenging comminution and flotation projects ahead of us. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, join our esteemed Metallurgy team on the convenience of a 5/2, 4/3 (10-hour days) roster. 

**As this is a residential role, the successful applicant must reside in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region**

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Report through to the Metallurgy Superintendent all relevant metallurgical matters. Day to day management of all metallurgical function. Lead development of improvement opportunities improving throughput, recovery and reducing costs. Taking the lead to develop the Processing Department Budget. Assist in the recruitment of metallurgy personnel.
  • Mentoring and coaching of Metallurgy Team to a standard that produces succession planning of departmental positions. Provide feedback on performance and conduct formal performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Address poor performance or misconduct, complete performance counselling as appropriate in conjunction with the Metallurgical Superintendent. Contribute to the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for tasks performed by the team.
  • Display a clear commitment to safety and health and seek to eliminate or control the risks of injury and/or damage to equipment. Proactive involvement with continuous OHS improvement processes Active participation in all communication and awareness systems.
  • Ensure that the impacts from metallurgical operations are at or below the operating licences conditions. Display a clear commitment to responsible environmental management. Operate in accordance with the Company’s Environmental Policy, and comply with other site environmental policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.  

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Experience: The successful applicant will have a Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an operational gold and hydrometallurgical mining-mineral processing environment, with at least two (2) years’ experience in a senior level position. This role will suit someone who has a demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence others in a positive manner with proven time management, planning and organisational skills.

 

Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline and current WA C Class Driver’s License.
