Northern Star Resources have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Geology Technician.

This opportunity is offered as residential in the Goldfields working a roster of 5:2, 4:3 – 10-hour days followed by 8:6 – 12-hour days

 

The successful candidate will assist with Northern Star’s various geological functions, including all drilling and sampling activities.

 

Typical Tasks: 

  • Assist in the supervision of a fully functional core processing facility.
  • Complete regular audits and inspections to ensure maintenance of mobile and fixed plant.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of relevant Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide in-house training and ongoing mentoring of Geology Technicians.
  • Process, sample, and collect data from diamond drill core.
  • Sample and collect data from Reverse Circulation, Blast Hole, Rotary Air Blast, Aircore and auger drillholes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate sample dispatch to assay laboratories.
  • Coordinate daily activities, liaising with mining and geology teams.
  • Develop strong working relationships with members of the Operations, Growth and Discovery Geology teams.

 

Requirements

Essential

  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a field assistant/technician role

 

Preferred  

  • Current approved and recognised forklift ticket.
  • Computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft office products.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to plan daily activities and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
