Northern Star Resources is seeking a motivated Scheduling Engineer to join our underground production engineering team at the iconic Mt Charlotte mine. Mt Charlotte is a historic operation that has been backed with significant investment, resulting in a long-term, exciting future for the growing team of underground mining specialists. This role is a Kalgoorlie-based residential position on an 8/6 12-hour day roster, with the unique benefit of being less than a 10-minute drive to any front door in Kalgoorlie.
This business critical role is responsible for coordinating stakeholders and developing daily, weekly, and monthly mine schedules to ensure alignment with the annual mine plan. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, timely, and efficient execution of all underground mining activities at Mt Charlotte.
Here’s what awaits you:
- Develop and implement short-term mine schedules (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Effectively communicate the 3MRS & 12 month rolling forecasts to key site stakeholders and leadership teams as forecasts are updated.
- Conduct routine inspections underground, checking upcoming work areas with those responsible for schedule execution.
- Chair scheduling meetings with production, planning, geology and mining contractor teams.
- Provide direction and ensure alignment between stakeholders with respect to mining activities, interactions and resource allocations.
- Monitor weekly and monthly compliance to plan and report on variances.
Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent discipline
- Experience in a production engineering-related role with a well-rounded knowledge of the underground development and production mining cycle.
- Sound understanding of underground mining rates, infrastructure needs and fleet abilities.
- Competent with mine design and scheduling software, (Deswik preferred).
- Strong communication and influencing skills across all levels of the organisation.
- An attention to detail, great presentation skills and public speaking ability.
- Excellent personal organisational and time management skills.
- Current Western Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence, or the ability to attain.
- National Police Clearance - valid within twelve (12) months.
Preferred
- Exposure to Sub Level Caving, Modified Avoca or Sub Level Open Stoping methods
- Exposure to remnant mining and/or void management practices
- Experience in or a sound understanding of primary and secondary ventilation systems and regulatory requirements.
