We have an exciting opportunity at our Kalgoorlie Operations for an experienced Safety and Training Officer.  Working a 8/6 FIFO or Kalgoorlie Residential Roster. 

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety awareness.
  • Develop, coordinate and monitor procedural systems, processes and training in accordance with company and legislative requirements.
  • Monitor and manage training requirements of all employees to ensure skill requirements are met.
  • Participate in emergency and rescue training and mock evacuations.
  • Undertake regular inspections and task observations to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Undertake regular task observations to ensure compliance is met.
  • Inspect and manage emergency equipment and systems in the underground environment.
  • Maintain accurate training and safety records ensuring compliance has been met.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

 

Experience:

  • Underground production experience in a mechanised hard rock underground environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in competency based training and assessment methods.
  • Detailed working knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Workplace Health and Safety (Mining) Regulations
  • Previous exposure to incident investigation, auditing processes and workplace inspections.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (essential)
  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (desirable).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships within all levels of the business.
  • Intermediate competency in excel and presentation applications.
  • Minimum “C” class unencumbered manual drivers licence.
