We have a challenging but rewarding Production Superintendent position awaiting you at the world class KCGM Superpit that boasts a +10-year mine life. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, join our esteemed Open Pit Operations on the convenience of an 8:6 Kalgoorlie residential day shift roster or FIFO from Perth. 

 

Here’s what awaits you:

 

  • Being responsible for providing effective leadership and day to day management of the Open Pit Production team activities to achieve desired results, within the Open Pits department at Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM).
  • Mentoring and coaching and development of succession plans for all critical positions.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including Technical Services, Maintenance, and Safety teams, to ensure alignment of production activities with operational objectives. Engaging with external contractors and service providers to coordinate activities, manage performance, and ensure compliance with site standards and safety requirements.
  • Ensuring that operational plans are effectively managed and executed by the team to align with departmental and company performance requirements.
  • Tracking of plant performance to monthly and quarterly production plans.
  • Assisting Production Manager and Mining Manager – Open Pits with monthly cost review. Displaying a comprehensive knowledge of key performance indicators and take necessary actions to ensure production and financial success.
  • Ability to drive team culture that aligns with Northern Star core values.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

 

Required:

 

  • Section 44 or equivalent.
  • Valid WA Quarry Manager’s Certificate of Competency (or ability to obtain).
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Extensive practical experience (5 years +) in open pit mining operations, including Load & Haul and Drill & Blast activities.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead production teams in a high-performance, safety-focused and cost effective environment.
  • Previous experience managing operational costs, drivers and corrective actions
  • Effective operational planning skills with the ability to ensure that the production team meets or exceeds the required forecasts and/or budgets
  • Proven positive track record in operational performance management
  • Previous experience coordinating engineering and technical services to best optimise operational performance
  • Previous experience in managing all aspects of personnel development, training and industrial relations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mining equipment capabilities, utilisation strategies, and maintenance coordination.
  • Competency in the use of mine production systems and software.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficient computer and Microsoft office suite skills.
