We are seeking an experienced Planning Superintendent to join our KCGM Operations.  This is a residential role on a 5/2, 4/3 roster working 10 hours per day.

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Champion safety and environmental compliance by promoting safe work practices, assessing environmental impacts, and ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead strategic mine planning initiatives, including compiling annual budget for open pit, studies for operational and development projects.
  • Support site operations through technical guidance in mine planning, engineering projects and business assessments to optimise performance and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement best practice standards for mine planning processes, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with corporate objectives and LOA.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating plans and collaborating with technical teams, consultants, and regulatory bodies to support business development and operational success.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Experience:

  • Extensive mining industry experience with a minimum of 10 years in open pit production and planning, particularly in mechanised hard-rock and large surface mines
  • Comprehensive planning expertise across all time horizons—from long-term strategic planning to short-term operational scheduling.
  • Strong technical proficiency in mining software, especially Whittle and Deswik, along with advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Regulatory and safety knowledge, including a clear understanding of open-cut and underground mining regulations
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams, write detailed reports, and present complex technical information.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
  • Quarry Manager qualification
  • Provide Advanced First Aid Certificate
  • Membership of AusIMM
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Driver's Licence
