We have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Planning Engineer to join our high performing Technical Services team at our Kanowna Belle Operations. This opportunity is offered on 8/6 roster, 12-hour days, residentially based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Relocation packages and assistance will be considered for the right candidate.

 

Reporting to the Senior Planning Engineer, the primary role is for the delivery of development and production mine plans in a safe and efficient manner, utilising industry best practice. The successful candidate will have considerable influence on the short-term mining schedule.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Produce accurate and clear mine instructions for development and stope file notes for production.
  • Ensure issued instructions are clear, correct, and understandable.
  • Work closely with the geology team to ensure designs are in line with available geological information.
  • Undertake improvement projects to optimise mining practices.
  • Review 13-week schedules to ensure priority deadlines are met for development and stoping activities.
  • Management of underground contractors for project work where required.
  • Work closely with survey and operations to prioritise and execute development activities.
  • Conducting Daily Compliance Meetings.

 

Required skills and experience: 

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering.
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence (Manual).
  • Experience with mine design software - Deswik CAD and IS.
  • Underground production and planning experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
  • Awareness of the Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations (desirable).
  • Underground time completed (desirable).
