We have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Mining Engineer to join our high performing Underground Technical Services team at our KCGM Operations at the new Fimiston Underground Mine. This opportunity is offered on 8/6 roster, 12-hour days, residentially based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder - the Heart of the Goldfields. It is an exciting time to be part of the biggest growth story in Australian Underground Gold Mining, with experience to be gained that will be career defining.
Reporting to the Senior Production Engineer and Underground Manager, the primary role is for the safe design and delivery of drilling & blasting plans and systems as well as other production requirements within the Mining Engineering team.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Produce accurate and clear work instructions for production and ancillary activities.
- Ensure issued instructions are clear, correct, and understandable.
- Drill and Blast Design, QA/QC of drill and blast activities
- Review weekly schedules to ensure priority deadlines are met for production activities.
- Work closely with operations and survey to prioritise and execute production activities.
- End of day reporting for all mining activities and compliance against schedule
- Undertake improvement projects to optimise mining practices.
Required skills and experience:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering.
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence (Manual).
- Experience with mine design software - Deswik.
- Underground production experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
- St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
- Awareness of the Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations (desirable).
- Underground time completed (desirable).
