We have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Mining Engineer to join our high performing Technical Services team at our South Kalgoorlie Operations. This opportunity is offered on 8/6 roster, 12-hour days, residentially based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the primary role is for the safe design and delivery of various mining plans, schedules and systems to support production and development activities at SKO, as well as to assist with other production requirements within the Mining Engineering team.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Design stope shapes, develop extraction strategies and prepare stope notes for approval.
- Produce short-term development designs and associated approved plans
- Produce accurate and clear work instructions for production and ancillary activities.
- Produce & review weekly (7/21) schedules to ensure priority deadlines are met for production and development activities.
- Paste fill design and coordination of paste fill activities.
- Work closely with operations and survey to prioritise and execute production activities.
- Mentoring of Drill and Blast Engineers, QA/QC of drill and blast activities
- Assist with contractor management.
- Undertake improvement projects to optimise mining practices.
Required skills and experience:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering.
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence (Manual).
- Underground production and planning experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine – minimum 2 years.
- Experience with mine design software - Deswik.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
- Underground time completed (desirable).
- St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
- Awareness of the Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations (desirable).
