We have a fantastic and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Mine Surveyor to join the Open Pit Mining team at our KCGM Super Pit Operations, residentially based in Kalgoorlie - the Heart of the Goldfields.

 

This is a residential 8:6 rostered position, working 11 hours, reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor and facilitating the survey requirements of the mining team.

 

Here's what awaits you:

  • Conduct daily open pit survey pickups, mark-ups and compliance checks.
  • Maintain pit survey control networks and ensure accuracy of all survey data.
  • Perform end-of-month pickups and volume calculations.
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment including GPS, total stations and drones.
  • Complete drone flights for pit mapping and photogrammetry.
  • Assist with blast pattern set-outs, wall control, design compliance and reconciliation.
  • Produce survey plans, maps and reports to support operational teams.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the survey function.
  • Collaborating with the Senior Mining Engineer and the Senior Mine Surveyor, to ensure the survey priorities align with the operational team.
  • Training and mentoring the Surveying Graduates and vacation students in the correct methods and standards for Open Pit Surveying.

 

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • A degree or diploma in Mine Surveying, Spatial Science, Geomatics or related discipline.
  • Experience working in an open pit mining environment (Desirable)
  • Experience with Deswik, Point studio Software.
  • Experience with Trimble Instruments.
  • RepL Drone licence (Desirable)
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region, or willing to be relocated for this residential operation.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence.
