Northern Star Resources currently has a pivotal senior leadership opportunity for a Mining Manager, reporting to the General Manager, to join the site based team at our Kalgoorlie Operations (Kanowna Belle & South Kalgoorlie Operations. This role is working on a permanent full time 5:2/4:3 Residential or 4/3 FIFO roster.

 

Here is what awaits you.

  • Develop, implement, manage, review and improve safe systems of work for our current underground operations to ensure compliance to legislation and company policies.
  • Develop and implement mining strategies to safely develop and operate the underground operations to meet the company’s strategic goals and production targets.
  • Manage, supervise and guide the operational teams including internal technical personnel, external principal contractors and Northern Star Mining Services (NSMS).
  • Generate operating plans and budgets that align with the Company’s operating requirements and maximise, as practicable, the underground mine’s positive contribution to the operation and driving compliance to plan.
  • Oversee the creation, maintenance, and application of departmental procedures and ensure all risks associated with mining (remnant and newly established mining fronts) are identified and addressed to the highest level.
  • Analyse and report on mining operational performance to identify any early interventions required to maintain performance.
  • Develop a succession plan for roles within the technical services team, and other teams as appropriate.

Experience:

  • Extensive underground hard rock mining experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Applicable previous management and statutory position holding experience.
  • Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Practical experience in a senior leadership position on a large-scale operation.
  • Strong financial acumen and good understanding of contractor management business model.

 

Qualifications:

  • WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Detailed working knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Certification for Work Health and safety act 2020 and work health and safety (Mines) Regs 2022 for Senior Site Executive.
  • Valid Manual drivers license.
