We have an enticing residential (Plant) Metallurgist position awaiting you at the world class Gidji Operation apart of the KCGM Operation that boasts a +10-year mine life. Promising a long term and fulfilling future, join our esteemed technical team on the convenience of an 5:2, 4:3 (10-hour days) roster. 

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with production and maintenance personnel to ensure a team-based approach to achieving all objectives. Conduct plant investigations and improvement projects to improve recovery, increase throughput and reduce cost as required.
  • Maintains the metallurgical accounting system, and generates daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly balances as required, in accordance with the company Metal Accounting Standard. Monitor plant performance analyse operational/assay data and set up systems that provide performance trends that can be used to identify areas and opportunities to improve plant performance.
  • Optimising processing plant comprises of (but not limited to) crushing-grinding circuit, flotation circuit, roaster circuit, gravity circuit (Knelson and Acacia), CIL circuit and goldroom recovery processes.
  • Identifying the hazards in their work area and using the correct controls to manage the risk. Reporting to the Supervisor immediately any actual or potential unsafe conditions or activities, mishaps, incidents, accidents, injuries or illnesses in the workplace.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Experience: Minimum 2 years relevant experience in the mining industry. Computer literacy – Microsoft Office (Extensive Excel skills is an absolute requirement). Effective communication skills. Excellent data analysis skills. Familiar with process control systems. Pragmatic approach to trouble shooting and problem solving. Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all processing tasks. Proven track record of process improvement and/or cost savings project implementation will be highly regarded. Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices. Ability to work as part of a team

Qualifications: Degree majoring in Metallurgical Engineering / Extractive Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution. Current “C” Class (manual) Western Australian Drivers Licence.
